Ill Manors Trailer

A trailer should reveal certain things and allow the audience to work out what is going to happen in the show. It should usually leave the audience with an enigma code and something to make them watch the show. It should briefer introduce the characters and allow the people to gather an opinion of them.Sound is used to add the to mystique around the trailer.Their is usually some information about who has made the film and gives some quotes about what people thought of the quote. If this was a high-budget film and the film1 was sold on the stars, they would include the stars of the show in the show. The trailer also introduces some of the brief themes of the film, for instance, it introduces drugs, violence and prostitution in the trailer. All trailers have a 3 part structure, which could relate to Todorov's Equilibrium theory. They have a beginning, middle and end.  The beginning is usually when the institution information is shown. The institution information is who made the film and the production company. The middle is when the music is more prominent and the voice- over adds the information for the audience, the middle is key for a trailer as it is when people view the most things about the trailer.

Trailers are usually on places like YouTube and other sides. Some production companies distribute their trailers in cinema, radio. Some good budget films ensure that their film is distributed by Television. It sometimes costs the company to distribute their Film via these platforms. The only platform in which it doesn't cost anything is Social Media. For a small budget film like Ill manors, they would utilized these platforms as much as possible. In addition, most of there target audience is on social media so it could even be more effective than the more expensive distribution methods. Some bigger production companies also use Billboards. The bigger the production company, the more Television and Radio and Billboard  adverts you would see. For a small Budget film like Ill manors, you wouldn't see as much adverts, however alternative ways would be used more.

I think Ill manors target audience is Young and between the 16- 45 age range. They would've watched other films in this genre like Kidulthood and Adulthood. The purpose of the person who is watching this show could be to see an alternative view of the London and the UK. I am aware that this film is an 18 Certificate, however I think that this film appeals greatly to 16 year olds, therefore I think that the "real target audience" is 16-45 year olds. Furthermore, I think that the person who is watching this would be Middle- Working class. I don't think that this film would appeal to Upper Class people as they wouldn't want to view the alternate representation of the UK.They would be Earning between 16,000 a year to 23,000. They would be in the Reformer and Mainstream Groups. I do think that this film would appeal to Aspirer as the Drug dealers are seeking wealth or respect, I didn't include it because they're getting wealth through means that aren't ideal.

The trailer shows information about the Director Ben Drew a.k.a "Plan B". His name is one of the selling points for the film. In addition, this film is lottery funded, which means that certain stipulations would've had to be met, in order to receive this money. This was Ben Drew first role as a Director, However he already had a good reputation for Rapping and previous screen roles in Films like Adulthood. The director decided to utilise amateur actors in his film. These actors were from places within London. Amateur actors allowed him to give back to the community that he is from and allow people to make a name for themselves. Ill manors had mixed reception by people. With some newspapers Headlining. "Rapper Plan B's Film so awful he should now contemplate Plan C" Daily Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/reviews/article-2156210/Rapper-Plan-Bs-film-debut-Ill-Manors-awful-contemplate-Plan-C.html. On the other hand an different news papers headlined "Plan B's Ill Manors is the true Dark reality".The
Guardian http://www.theguardian.com/music/2012/may/27/ill-manors-plan-b-ben-drew-interview. The common view would be somewhere in the middle.

I think that the genre is successfully shown through the characters.I think that the usage of the character and the fact that their amateur  adds to the effect of this. I also think that if this film didn't use amateur  actors this show wouldn't be as effective. Furthermore, the storyline in my opinion was one well, the story was illustrated well through the characters. I also think  that characters in this show are stereotypical and they're all common for this genre.Overall, I think that Ill Manors is a good film and it has all of the key conventions of a film in this genre.
