I think that the Ted Ex talk done by Plan B was interesting as
he wasn’t targeting his usual target audience. He was looking for more of the
upper-classes and Middle-class demographic. He wanted to reach out to people who
haven’t heard about him or don’t know about his opinion. Plan B thinks that
society haven’t cared for the people who they should’ve and have demised the
Youth and have done things they’ve angered this demographic.
Who is the target audience of the TEDx lecture?
Demographics? Psychographics? How do you know? How does this compare to the
audience for his music/films?
I think that Plan B is targeting the middle-classes with
this Ted Talk and he was trying to appeal to more of the people in the power.
Ted talks aren’t usually listened to by the working class and these talks target
the middle-classes. He would be Targeting the ABC1-C1 demographic. As that group has the greatest amount of power.
Plan B is trying to spread his theory on Youth to more of the people that could
change that, instead of producing music videos for people who already have the
same theory. He is also trying to target the Reformer Psychographic range. He
is targeting this group of people as they like making their own decisions using
the information that is provided.
What does Plan B say about the media?
Explain how this can be linked to Cohen's media theory of moral panics?
Plan B thinks that the media are trying to influence the decision
making of people and are trying to say universally that the youth are bad. He
is saying that the Youth are being targeted and demonized by people. He thinks
that the media target and demonize people in Council houses and youth in
general. HE thinks that this is part of the problem and they should do more
positive stories instead.
In addition, Plan B also thinks that the Media have created a
moral panic about youth and whenever youth is metioned it is always negative. He
thinks that this moral panic has resulted in the youth becoming apathetic to
the society and excluding themselves from society.
